PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene girls, Post Falls boys up for Challenge on Friday

SPIRIT LAKE — Coeur d’Alene High junior Kelsey Carroll claimed titles in the shot put, discus and javelin to lead the Viking girls to the team title in the Kootenai County Challenge track and field meet at Timberlake High on Friday.

Coeur d’Alene finished with 183 points, with senior Maddie Mitchell sweeping the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles and senior Kenzie Thompson the pole vault and long jump.

Junior Gio Carlino won the 100, 200 and ran the winning legs of the 4x200 for the Post Falls boys, who ran away with the team title with 216 points.

Lake City senior Aidan Hendrichs won the shot put and javelin.

“Aidan worked really hard over the winter,” Lake City coach Kelly Reed said. “It’s fun to see when they put a lot of time in because they’ve earned it a little bit.”

• POSTPONEMENTS

Rain and snow in the area wiped out a majority of prep events on Friday afternoon.

Central Idaho League baseball and softball games between Orofino and host Kellogg were postponed, as well as a softball doubleheader between Colville and host Timberlake.

Prep tennis matches pitting Moscow and Lewiston at Post Falls and Lakeland were also postponed.

No makeup dates were announced.

The Kootenai Invitational at Harrison Flats, scheduled for today, was canceled.

CIL baseball and softball doubleheaders between visiting St. Maries and Kellogg, also scheduled for today, were postponed, with no makeup date announced.
