RACISM: Fight back in May 21 election
I just returned from Maryland. While there, I visited the Harriet Tubman Museum. Being from North Idaho, I never had a good understanding of how slaves lived and were treated. It opened my eyes.
The first news I heard when I got back was about the harassment from some of our lowstanding residents. It’s hard to believe that, in this day and age, there are still people who think it is OK to treat people that way. I’d like to see The Coeur d’Alene Resort sue the perpetrators for the income they lost and the future income they will lose from other teams deciding not to come to North Idaho.
Several of my nieces and nephews are half Thai or half Japanese-American. They don’t like to, or won’t, come to North Idaho anymore. That is because of racists like the ones that harassed the Utah women’s team, who are being tolerated in our community. Stop tolerating them!
I believe that some people in the current KCRCC encourage these beliefs. That is why I think that the KCRCC needs to be changed.
The responsible Republicans in our area have decided to try and change how the KCRCC is operated. They are doing this by trying to get Republicans who are interested in returning to our normal North Idaho values to run for precinct committeemen.
In truth, who gets elected as president will affect you much less than who gets elected as your precinct committeeman. I’m one of them. I’m running for the area mostly west of Highway 53 in the Rathdrum area, Precinct 305.
Please get out May 21 and vote in the Republican Primary.
