POST FALLS — TDS Telecommunications LLC is expanding its high-speed all-fiber network in the Coeur d’Alene area, with new construction beginning this week in Post Falls.
The initial work will bring service to more than 700 addresses in Post Falls, with further expansions for the area planned in the future.
“We’re excited to bring state-of-the-art fiber services to even more homes and businesses in North Idaho,” Drew Petersen, TDS senior vice president of corporate affairs, said in a Wednesday news release.
“The continued expansion of TDS’ fiber network in the city of Post Falls will enable citizens and businesses to have greater choices and options for their high-speed internet,” Post Falls Community Development Director Bob Seale said in the release.
TDS’ fiber network features speeds up to 8 gigabytes, allowing customers to upload and download files of any size nearly instantaneously. Ten gig-dedicated connections are available for businesses.
Last year, TDS completed major construction activities in Coeur d’Alene and recognized the city as a TDS Fiber-Fast Community. Crews built about 113 miles of fiber to serve more than 17,000 homes and businesses.
“Access to fast and reliable internet is indispensable for the success of modern businesses,” Post Falls Chamber President and CEO Christina Petit said in the news release.
