Margaret Ann Riddle (Richards) was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Imperial Beach, Calif., where her mother, Orletta Louise (Landis) Richards (known as “Mary”), and her father, William Warren Richards, then resided. Known to most as Ann, she was the second daughter of seven children born to the Richards family. Ann died Friday, March 22, 2024, at age 92, in Hayden, Idaho.

Growing up, Ann’s family included her mother and father, six sisters and one brother. Her mother and father preceded Ann in death, as did sisters Eleanor Jane Bolla and Dorothy Louise Unverzagt. She is survived by sisters Rosalie Ruth Curry, twins Mary Alice Smith and Helen Adele Chester, and brother John Daniel Richards.

Living in the San Diego area, Ann graduated from Chula Vista High School in Chula Vista, Calif. After high school, she met and married Clarence Frank Riddle, a veteran of WWII, in 1950. They were married in Bonita, Calif. Following their marriage, Ann and her husband, Clarence Riddle, lived and worked in several places in the greater San Diego metropolitan area, before moving to Bakersfield, Calif.

The Riddles started their family in 1953 with the birth of their daughter, Kathleen Ann Riddle (Monahan); a son, Larry Douglas Riddle; and another daughter, Janet Riddle (Holt). Their son, Larry, preceded both Clarence and Ann. Clarence, also known as “Son,” passed away in 2003.

Ann is also survived by her grandsons, Christopher Thomas Wilhite and William Brent Wilhite; Christopher’s wife, Kathleen Joy; and two daughters, Karissa Noelle and Lauren Elise; and son Joshua Lowe; his wife, Sierra; and their daughter, Olivia. William Brent Wilhite resides with his mother, Kathleen, and stepfather Mark Monahan.

A memorial service celebrating Ann’s life will be conducted by Reverend Dan Philip Ketchen in Hayden. The interment will be in Bakersfield, Calif. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of arrangements.  Please visit Ann’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
