Daniel Nyborg, 73

Dan passed away peacefully at Kootenai Health on March 25, 2024, surrounded by family. Dan was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Jackson, Minn., son of Russell and Marie Nyborg. 

He grew up in the Silver Valley and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1968. Dan was always a hard worker and had a variety of skills. He worked at various local companies throughout his life, such as the Bunker Hill Zinc Plant, in the logging industry, at the Carousel service station, as a mechanic at Sunshine Mine, as well as an apprentice electrician and spent several years working as the Bunker Hill environmental remediation at Ferguson Contracting. Dan also boarded horses and had a lawn care business for many years. Not only was Dan a hard worker, but he had a kind heart and was a dependable friend. He played like a kid, keeping everyone active, which earned him many dear friends. Dan resided in Hunt Gulch, Kingston, Idaho. He enjoyed ATVing, fishing and camping up the river with friends, serving barbecued burgers and Uncle Dan's dressing. He loved to go for drives, taking many scenic trips and visits to the Coeur d'Alene Casino. Dan enjoyed attending local high school and middle sporting events to support family and friends on the sporting fields and courts. He also had a passion for learning Silver Valley history, spending hours reading and researching information on the internet.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, his brother. Warren Nyborg, niece Kandice Nyborg and nephew Jacob Neville. He is survived by his stepson, Kai Fredricks, his sister, Loretta (Phil) Klause, brother Wayne (Kathy) Nyborg, sister Juanita (Doug) Yrjana, and sister Karen (Terry) Parker. He had several nieces, Karla Mitchell, Aliza Seay, Shaila Cook, Rusan Nyborg and Angie Larsen.  His nephews are Kevin Yrjana, Tom Larsen and James Klause. Dan was also survived by his special extended family, Nicole and Austen Butrum, and their children, Dena and Beau.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
