Safe Passage receives $25K matching gift from Smocks
Safe Passage announced Tuesday it has received a generous matching pledge of $25,000 from longtime supporters Pepper and Midge Smock.
It is the Smocks' desire for a full or partial matching pledge to be received by Safe Passage as October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness month and the longstanding A Martini Affair event at Seasons of Coeur d'Alene.
Safe Passage Executive Director Amanda Krier expressed gratitude to the Smocks for their generosity and steadfast commitment to the nonprofit's cause.
"Their incredible matching gift of $25,000 is a beacon of hope for survivors of domestic and sexual violence," Krier said in the news release. "With their support, every dollar we raise becomes a catalyst for change, doubling the impact of our efforts to provide safety, education and empowerment to those in need. Pepper and Midge's dedication to our mission speaks volumes about their compassion and desire to create a community free from violence. Together, we are breaking the cycle of abuse, and we couldn't do it without partners like Pepper and Midge.”
Safe Passage is underscoring the importance of steady and reliable funding sources like this private matching gift as it responds to and educates to prevent domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking in North Idaho.
Safe Passage’s 11th annual A Martini Affair will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Seasons, 209 E. Lakeside Ave. The event will feature a buffet and live music as well as a sponsored wine grab and silent auction. Tickets are $85.
