Library budget set at $2.1 million
COEUR d'ALENE — Trustees with the Coeur d'Alene Public Library signed off on the library's 2023-24 budget Tuesday.
The $2.1 million budget includes $1.6 million in payroll expenses for full- and part-time staff, $220,000 for services and supplies and $190,000 for books.
The bulk of the funding for the library comes from $1.8 million in property taxes.
Other sources include $43,000 in grants, $3,000 for lost or damaged items and $150 for nonresident fees.
The budget was approved by the City Council on Sept. 5.
Michael Priest, library director, said payroll expenses saw the largest increase due to a 5% cost of living adjustment for all employees, as well as $2,500 bonuses for full-time, non-exempt employees.
The budget was about a 5% increase from the $1.9 million budget in fiscal year 2022-23.
