| September 27, 2023 1:00 AM

POST FALLS — Post Falls' German heritage will be celebrated from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Q’emiln Park during the inaugural Prost in the Park.

Presented by the Post Falls Rotary Club, the family-friendly Prost in the Park event will feature an array of Oktoberfest-style activities, cuisine and beverages.

Four local bands will play: The Theresa Edwards Band, 11 a.m. to noon; Devon Wade, 1-2 p.m.; Super Chrome, 3-4 p.m.; and The Happiness, 5-6 p.m. Festival attendees will have opportunities to partake in dance lessons, including the famous "Chicken Dance" and various line dances. A roaming oompah entertainer will amp up the festivities with an extra dash of German-themed flair.

Post Falls Rotary will serve traditional German meals of bratwurst, sauerkraut and German potato salad for $10 per plate. The Burger Dock, Taco Works and Sugar Shack will also have food for purchase.

Free face painting for kids and an all-ages obstacle course-style bounce house will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults 21 and older will have options for Oktoberfest-inspired beverages for $7 each or two for $12.

Event proceeds will be used to fund lighted crosswalks in Post Falls school zones, various scholarships and books for elementary-level students, as well as to celebrate New Vision High School student attendance and successes.

Q'emiln Park is at 12201 W. Parkway Drive.
