REDMAN INSURANCE: RFP process, competition welcome

In response to the Sept. 15 editorial mentioning Redman Insurance, I want to clarify a couple things. First, we appreciate the suggestion from a trustee for the Community Library Network board proposing our insurance agency as an option to provide insurance for the Library, and we hope that the suggestion was because of our heart for serving our local community, our 30 years in business in Kootenai County, our products available for public entities, and the exceptional service our experienced team provides.

While we would certainly be grateful for such consideration, we feel that following proper channels for a public entity quote is important, and we would love to see a RFP (Request for Proposal) so that Redman Insurance could compete with other agencies in the quote/bid process. We strongly believe that competition in a free market is healthy, cost effective and represents a conservative value.

All our local public entities should be regularly re-evaluating their risk management and insurance portfolios, and the RFP process helps to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being invested wisely and stewarded well.
