PREP VOLLEYBALL: Coeur d'Alene tops Lake City in four

COEUR d’ALENE — After Lake City evened the match after two sets, host Coeur d’Alene regrouped and notched a 25-19, 17-25, 25-11, 25-15 victory in Inland Empire League play Thursday night at Viking Court.

“Lake City did a good job serving us tough in the second set, and getting up a lot of hits early on,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “After our loss in the second set we did a good job bouncing back, picking up our energy, and really got our offense going.”

Curtis had praise in particular for her right-side hitters, Kaydence Green (five kills, four blocks) and Kiley Hart (six kills, two blocks).

“Our right sides did a good job setting the block, and making them hit around it,” Curtis said.

Paisley Goings had 10 kills for Coeur d’Alene (14-2, 4-1 IEL). Garcie Legg had 13 digs and three aces, Lizzy Hardy 12 assists, Bailey Jaworski nine assists and two aces, Alexa Stavros 13 digs, Olivia Naccarato three blocks, Gia Janke two aces.

For Lake City (3-6, 1-5), Taylor Winey had 27 assists and seven digs, Jessalyn Wilson 10 kills, Daphne Neeley 14 digs and two aces.

“We had some good moments tonight, but not enough, and failed to play to our potential,” said Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg, who had to wear her prescription sunglasses as the match went on because of a migraine. “We have some work to do in the mindset department before seeing the Vikings next week.”

Lake City’s next match is next Wednesday at home vs. Coeur d’Alene.

Coeur d’Alene’s next match is Monday at Moscow.

Lakeland d.

Sandpoint

RATHDRUM — Junior Landree Simon had 17 kills as the host Hawks recovered from a first-set loss to beat the Bulldogs 22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-11 in IEL play at Hawk Court.

Ella Terzulli had 34 assists for Lakeland (13-4, 4-2 IEL). Lila Kiefer had 25 digs and six aces, Ziya Munyer seven blocks, Addy Hocking 21 digs and three aces.

“Our girls showed a lot of grit tonight,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “We have had a tough couple weeks of play, but we played through injuries and sickness. Layla (Benson) played great tonight and made some great plays when we needed it the most.”

Sandpoint is 2-6, 0-4.

Lakeland plays in the Rocky Mountain tournament today and Saturday in Meridian.

Post Falls d.

Ridgeline, Mead

SPOKANE — Jenna Sarff had 13 kills, 12 digs and two aces for the Trojans in a 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, 27-25 win over the Ridgeline Falcons in a nonleague match at Mead High.

Kylie Munday had 11 kills, 23 assists, Lucy Carr 14 assists, Sam Anderson seven blocks and Vanessa Kison 15 blocks for Post Falls against Ridgeline.

Later, Sarff had 17 kills, Trinity Byrne 14 kills and Kison 14 kills for the Trojans in a 24-26, 26-24, 25-22, 26-28, 15-13 win over the host Mead Panthers.

“I’m so proud of our team for both of these wins tonight,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “We really battled playing tough teams. We were smart, scrappy and gritty.”

Munday had 45 assists and three aces, Lexi Norisada 29 digs, Kison 18 digs and two aces and Anderson three blocks for Post Falls (18-3), which travels to Moscow on Saturday.

Priest River

PRIEST RIVER — Maddie Cheney had 14 kills and five aces for the Wildcats in a 25-13, 19-25, 25-23, 26-28, 15-7 Central Idaho League win over the Spartans.

Dani Hendrickson had 23 assists, Brielle Hei 30 digs, Emily Coe six blocks and Macy Jerome five aces for Kellogg (5-0, 3-0 CIL), which travels to St. Maries on Tuesday.

Kootenai

HARRISON FLATS — Megan Hull had 11 aces, nine assists and five kills for the Miners in a 25-5, 25-9, 25-5 nonleague win over the Warriors.

Britany Phillips had six kills and two aces, Tia Hendrick four kills and Kayla Hasz four kills for Wallace (9-0, 3-0 CIL), which faces Genesis Prep on Tuesday at The Courts.

Kootenai is scheduled to host Clark Fork on Tuesday.

Lakeside d.

Mullan

PLUMMER — Kimberly Pluff had nine kills, 22 digs, three assists and two aces as the host Knights downed the Tigers 25-16, 19-25, 25-12, 25-8 in nonleague play at Ron Miller Court.

Rayna Shatz had 10 kills and four digs for Lakeside (2-5). Meyha Wienclaw had seven kills, four digs and two blocks, Kylee Shot With Arrow six kills, five blocks and three aces, Tylah Lambert five kills, 28 assists, six digs and four aces, Chantell Luke five kills, seven aces and eight digs.

“They played so great tonight and had great attitudes,” Lakeside coach Te’a Kolar said. “It was awesome to see them play as a team and have a good time doing it.”

Lakeside travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

Mullan (2-5) plays host to Clark Fork on Tuesday.
