Roger Garlock announced his candidacy in the upcoming Coeur d’Alene City Council election.

He will bring “a fresh and dynamic approach to leadership that aims to empower and elevate the local communities of Coeur d'Alene,” said a news release from his campaign.

Over two decades working firsthand with and for members of the community, Garlock has developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Coeur d’Alene, said the release.

“Roger's vision centers around the idea that the true strength of any city lies in its people. By actively engaging with residents, community organizations and local businesses, the campaign seeks to cultivate a sense of belonging and a small-town quality of life,” the announcement said. “Through town hall meetings, community forums and accessible communication channels, Roger Garlock is dedicated to ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of every community member are addressed.”

Garlock is committed to promoting responsible growth and economic development that benefits all residents, the release said.

“Roger understands the importance of City Hall maintaining a sustainable budget to ensure a long-term trusting relationship with the taxpayers. By collaborating with local businesses, entrepreneurs and industry leaders, the campaign aims to create a thriving business climate that fosters a local community to match the recent housing boom and provide quality incomes for our residents,” said the release. “Simultaneously, Roger plans to champion sustainable practices that preserve our aquifer and protect the unique beauty and small-town charm of Coeur d’Alene.”

Garlock is a staunch advocate for transparent and accountable governance, the release said, and as such, he pledges to restore trust in local government by fostering an open, inclusive and ethical administration.

“By prioritizing the local population and not special interests, Roger will actively engage with constituents and promote accessibility to government processes,” the announcement said.

He seeks to ensure that decision-making is in the best interest of the entire community.

“With a proven track record of community leadership and a 20-year history of service to the residents of Coeur d’Alene, he is well-equipped to address the challenges facing Coeur d’Alene,” said the release. “Roger’s experience in working and volunteering with numerous vulnerable populations including homeless individuals, victims of domestic violence, second chance citizens and young adults with disabilities, demonstrates his dedication to public service and his ability to effectively collaborate with various organizations to achieve meaningful results.”

Garlock said he is currently raising his family in Coeur d'Alene and would like to ensure that his kids “as well as so many other working-class families can thrive and experience the same benefits that our great town has offered for so many years.”
