PREP VOLLEYBALL: IEL-leading Post Falls sweeps Lake City

COEUR d’ALENE — Kylie Munday had 14 kills, 18 assists, five blocks and 10 digs as the Inland Empire League-leading Post Falls Trojans swept the host Lake City Timberwolves 25-21, 29-27, 25-9 in IEL play Tuesday night.

Trinity Byrne added 12 kills for Post Falls (16-3, 4-0 IEL). Lucy Carr had 22 assists, Kaela Gump seven blocks and four aces, Danielle Codd 11 digs, Lexi Norisada two aces.

Lola Jeanselme had nine digs and six kills for Lake City (3-5, 1-4). Jessalyn Wilson added eight kills and five digs, Taylor Winey 17 assists, Daphne Neeley 10 digs.

“Really proud of the way we battled tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “This was the most cohesive team dynamic we’ve had all season, and I’m hopeful that we can continue to build on it. Brick by brick.”

On Thursday, Lake City plays at Coeur d’Alene, and Post Falls plays Mead and Ridgeline in a tri-match at Ridgeline in Spokane Valley.

Lewiston

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Bailey Jaworski had 17 assists as the host Vikings swept the Bengals 25-20, 25-18, 25-22 in IEL play on senior night at Viking Gym.

Senior Olivia Naccarato had nine kills and two blocks for Coeur d’Alene (13-2, 3-1 IEL). Seniors Gia Janke and Kiley Hart had five kills and two blocks each.

Lizzy Hardy had 10 assists and nine digs for the Vikings. Paisley Goings had eight kills, seven digs and three aces, Gracie Legg 14 digs, Kaydence Green five kills, Alexa Stavros two aces.

“Energy from the crowd sparked our team this evening,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “Our defensive players did a good job of lining up around our blockers and reading the opposing attackers. I am proud of how they played on senior night.”

Lewiston is 1-4, 0-3.

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lake City on Thursday.

Moscow

MOSCOW — Junior Landree Simon 20 kills and 16 digs as the visiting Hawks took the final two sets to beat the Bears 25-14, 19-25, 25-10, 25-19 in IEL play at Bear Den.

Ziya Munyer had 17 kills and six blocks for Lakeland (12-4, 3-2). Ella Terzulli had 32 assists, Olivia Zazuetta 25 assists, Lila Kiefer 17 digs, Addy Hocking 16 digs and two aces.

“Much different speed playing in Moscow tonight,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “It took us some time to adjust and play our tempo. Landree and Ziya both had a great night with kills, and it was fun to watch them play so aggressively. Lila played some great defense and read their hitters well.”

Moscow is 2-5, 1-1.

Lakeland plays host to Sandpoint on Thursday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Maci Sandbank had nine digs and six kills as the host Tigers beat the Wampus Cats for the second time in eight days, this time 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.

Linley Howard had seven kills for Timberlake (3-5). Sophia Soumas had six digs and five assists, Jozee MacArthur 19 assists and three digs, Jesi Kitchin five kills, four digs and two aces, Rilyn Kaiser four digs and three aces.

Timberlake plays at Genesis Prep on Saturday.

St. Maries d.

Orofino

OROFINO — Junior Mia Asbury had 12 kills and 16 digs as the visiting Lumberjacks overcame a first-set loss to beat the Maniacs 22-25, 25-21,25-22,25-22 in Central Idaho League play.

Lily Daniel had 33 assists and six aces for St. Maries (10-6, 3-1 CIL). Ava Stancil had seven kills and 10 digs, Tayla Janssen and Abbie Wilks six kills each, Allie Zook 10 digs, Naomi Mueller two blocks.

“Tough night; Orofino always comes to play and we have to earn it,” said St. Maries coach Rachele Fischer, whose team beat the Maniacs in four sets at home on Sept. 7. “Had some defense errors that allowed them to go on runs. Was proud of the girls for sticking with it and taking the win.”

For Orofino (4-4, 1-3), Mylie Zenner had 12 kills, and Rilee Diffin had eight kills, 18 digs and three aces.

St. Maries returns to action next Tuesday at home vs. Priest River in CIL play.
