Bayley wins Idaho Open
BOISE — Derek Bayley of Rathdrum won a one-hole playoff Sunday to capture the Idaho Open at Quail Hollow Golf Course.
Bayley, who starred at Lakeland High and Washington State before turning pro, shot a 9-under-par 201 (66-67-68), and defeated Christopher Trunzer of Kelowna, British Columbia, in the playoff with a tap-in par.
“First tournament in a while, really,” said Bayley, who had surgery in May 2022 to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. “Had a couple setbacks along the way, so it took a little bit longer than I would have liked. I didn’t have a whole lot of expectations when I came down here.”
Russell Grove, North Idaho College men’s and women’s golf coach, finished tied for fifth at 5-under 205 (63-66-76).
Joseph Glenn, the former Post Falls High standout who went on to play at Idaho and Utah Valley, finished tied for 11th at 1-under 209 (71-68-70).
