SEELEY: Lies, insults not kindness and truth

| September 17, 2023 1:00 AM

I would like to write a brief response to a letter by James Seeley published here a couple days ago.

His letter starts by saying one can rebuke a ruler with kindness and truth, prefacing a slew of insults about to be directed at Joe Biden, which have been anything but kind.

Here is the first misconception, which is that Biden is ruling, rather than governing. This has become a daily mainstay of the GOP, in that each accusation they make is a confession of their own behavior. It is crystal clear that Trump wants to be a ruler, rather than a president. His incessant line of insults, lies and name calling violate any precept of “kindness and truth” or governance.

Seeley says a leader must be held responsible for their actions, and this is exactly why Trump is facing multiple indictments and 91 felonies.

Biden has not kept drugs out of the country? It’s worth noting that under Trump, 2016 to 2020, fentanyl deaths rose from 20,000/year to 70,000/year, all of that coming from Mexico. We can see what kind of success Trump had controlling the border.

He says Biden has issued “tons” of executive orders. True, Biden has done that 45 times per year in office, compared to Trump’s 55 per year in office, which is highest of any president since 1981.

On vaccines: Not at any time, anywhere, has any person American been “forced” to take a vaccine, by this president or any other.
