PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lakeland beats Post Falls as part of tri-match

POST FALLS — The 4A Hawks defeated the 5A Trojans 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19, then downed Central Valley of Spokane Valley 25-12, 25-19, 25-18 at The Arena at Post Falls.

Against Post Falls, Ziya Munyer had 11 kills and 11 blocks for Lakeland, Landree Simon had 13 kills, Ella Terzulli 25 assists, Olivia Zazuetta 13 assists, Addy Hocking 23 digs, Lila Kiefer 17 digs and three aces.

For Post Falls, Jenna Sarff had eight kills, Vanessa Kison and Trinity Byrne seven each. Kylie Munday had 17 assists, six blocks, 18 digs and two aces, Lucy Carr six assists, Maleah Willhelm seven blocks, Kaela Gump six blocks and three aces, Danielle Codd 13 digs.

Against Central Valley, Munyer had 12 kills and five blocks for Lakeland. Simon had 11 kills, Alexis Hanna 10 digs and three aces, Terzulli 13 assists and three aces, Kiefer eight digs.

“I am very proud of our girls today,” said Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger, whose team lost in three to Inland Empire League-leading Post Falls on Aug. 30. “We made a few adjustments and the rhythm was much better today. We kept the pressure on against Post Falls and worked hard to not create a three-point deficit. I’m super proud of Lexi (Levesque) and the energy she brought to the court. She made some key plays and it was exciting to watch her. Landree and Ziya had a great game and kept the momentum alive. Ziya had a huge day at the net, and Alexis Hanna made some tough digs and served the ball really aggressively today.”

Post Falls beat Central Valley 25-17, 25-14, 25-10. Munday had seven kills, 14 assists, four blocks and six digs, Byrne six kills, Carr nine assists, Sam Anderson seven blocks, Wilhelm four blocks, Kison eight digs and three aces, Gump three aces.

On Tuesday, Lakeland (11-4) travels to Moscow, and Post Falls (15-3) visits Lake City, both in IEL matches.

Coeur d’Alene d.

Lewis and Clark

SPOKANE — Gracie Legg had 21 digs, and Alexa Stavros had 19 digs and four aces as the visiting Vikings beat the Tigers 25-22, 25-22, 16-25, 25-16 in nonleague play.

Paisley Goings had 13 kills for Coeur d’Alene (12-2). Gia Janke had 11 kills and two blocks, Lizzy Hardy 25 assists and three aces, Bailey Jaworski 20 assists, Olivia Naccarato three blocks for the Vikings.

“I was proud of how we played,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “It was a full team effort to battle four sets for the win.”

Lewis and Clark is 1-4.

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lewiston on Tuesday.

St. Maries d.

Grangeville

ST. MARIES — Senior Ava Stancil had 13 digs and six kills as the host Lumberjacks swept the Bulldogs 25-22, 25-14, 25-14 in Central Idaho League play.

Mia Asbury had seven kills and three aces for St. Maries (9-6, 2-1 CIL). Naomi Mueller had seven kills and two aces, Lily Daniel 19 assists, Allie Zook 10 digs, Abbie Wilks three aces.

“We did a much better job today of achieving the goals we set for serving and controlling the ball when attacking,” St. Maries coach Rachele Fischer said. “Minimizing errors is crucial. Proud of the girls for transferring what we have been focused on in practices this week into our game play.”

Grangeville is 1-4, 1-2.

St. Maries travels to Orofino on Tuesday for a CIL match.

Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE — The Coeur d’Alene junior varsity defeated Genesis Prep 25-23, 25-20 in the championship match of the Timberlake tournament.

In pool play, which consisted of 30-minute timed matches, Genesis Prep defeated Stillwater Christian JV 35-19, Timberlake JV 46-21 and Kellogg 34-31. The Jaguars beat the Stillwater Christian varsity 25-22, 25-19 in the semifinals.

Laya Daniels had 12 kills, 13 blocks and three digs on the day for Genesis Prep (7-3). Kennedy Prendergast had 34 assists, five digs and two blocks, Ella Martin five aces and nine digs, Pearl Covey four aces and 19 digs, Jillian Russworm 14 digs and eight kills, Kinzie Lawler eight kills, Madi Cooper 12 kills and five digs, Shayla Hill eight aces and six digs.

Genesis Prep travels to Mullan on Monday.
