PATTERSON: False information

| September 13, 2023 1:00 AM

I don't know what is worse — the fact that Anne Patterson can't spell Brad Corkill's name correctly or that she believes Art Macomber can give an accurate history of the backstory of NIC's issues? Or is it the fact that she again rings out information into the community which is blatantly false regarding the prudent trustees wanting to push private development, when in fact, the property on which North Idaho College is located is in fact deed restricted for public education or a hospital? Or is it the fact that Tarie Zimmerman's speaking up and not letting McKenzie talk over her is referred to as 'mischief', because presumably women must hold their tongues? We understand that Banducci, Waggoner and McKenzie won their seats fairly, so did the WBCSD trustees that were very clearly recalled because of their improper actions on their board that were not consistent with the wishes of constituents. An NIC trustee recall would be a massive undertaking because of the other ballots which were running at the same time, so if we can make it to 2024, other candidates may step up that are more fiscally minded. The issues for many voters are clear — the spending is out of control, the accreditation is still in jeopardy, and it is the board of trustees majority's intent that should be questioned. I liken the majority to having only the social development of adolescent children — cannot emotionally let go of a decision even when proven wrong (by the way I learned that from a fantastic Intro to Psych instructor at NIC). Ms. Patterson, what Tarie Zimmerman and Brad Corkill are doing isn't 'mischief,' it is fighting everyday for a precious resource, whose loss to the community has consequences. Ask the majority why they want NIC gone, not the ones truly working to save it.
