Warren Lee Sperry, 79
Warren Lee Sperry, 79, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away peacefully Sept. 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Warren was born Feb. 11, 1944, to Kenneth Irving Sperry and Orine Bernice Sperry (Cork) in Wallace, Idaho. Warren grew up in Osburn, Idaho, graduating from Wallace High School in 1963, where he met the love of his life, his everything; Joanne Marie Sprute. Warren and Joanne were married shortly after graduating high school Oct. 2, 1965. They were blessed with five children: Brian Patrick, Michael Warren, Michelle Marie, Suzanne Lynn and Joy LeAnna.
Warren worked in the Silver Valley mines for over 20 years. He enjoyed being an avid sportsman in the great Idaho outdoors. You could generally find him hunting in the woods, fishing on his boat in Lake Pend Oreille or camping with his family. His happiest memories were being in the mountains, huckleberry picking, long drives for firewood scouting and getting "bleacher butt" watching his children and grandchildren play sports. There was not a dead tree in the woods safe from his chainsaw and old pickup truck! He had an eagle eye for locating wild game and he knew the best streams to fish. Warren was always delighted to share his vast knowledge and love of the mountains with his children and grandchildren or anyone willing to go along with him on a scenic ride. There was not a region of the woods in the area that he had not explored.
Warren also loved to share God's word and his biblical knowledge with others.
Warren is preceded in death by his son Brian Sperry, his parents Kenneth and Orine, his father-in-law Raymond Sprute, and his brother-in-law Patrick Sprute.
Warren is survived by his wife, Joanne Sperry; son Mike Sperry (wife Tina Sperry), daughters Shellie McCarthy (husband Joe McCarthy), Suzanne Sperry and Joy Sperry; daughter-in-law Lori Sperry; five grandchildren, Sydney Knuth (husband Nolan Knuth), Tom Sperry (wife Ali Sperry), Cody McCarthy (wife Breanna McCarthy), Trevor Sperry (wife Haylee Sperry) and Savannah Potter; and seven great-grandchildren, Ray Sperry, Asher Sperry, Travis Sperry, Trace Sperry, Sage McCarthy, Lexi Stauffer and Oakley Stauffer.
Warren is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Sperry, and sisters Sandra Gilliam and Cheryl Lang, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Silver Valley Worship Center, 307 S. Main St., Smelterville, Idaho where a reception will follow. Please contact Warren’s daughter Suzanne for gifts, contributions, or donations at suzannesperry@yahoo.com
