Norman Baker, 79
Norman Lee Baker, 79, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Spokane, Wash., to Ivan and Marguerite Morfitt.
Norm grew up in Spokane, Wash., and Baker, Ore. He graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1962.
He had a VERY adventurous nature. He loved camping, boating, fishing and traveling, especially “snowbirding” to Southern California and Arizona. He also enjoyed flying his plane and made every excuse possible to hang out at Felts Field.
He was extremely independent and loved the construction industry. After starting his working career in construction at Dupree Building Specialties, he ventured out to own and operate numerous businesses, including Fryer Ford Building Specialties, Perm-A-Treat Wood Treating, Spokane Custom Wood Treating and Renor Construction Services. After he retired, he worked part-time at Dupree for a few years.
Norm is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, Pam, and wife Reta. He is survived by his life partner, Carol; sons Don and wife Skip; Doug and wife Andrea; grandchildren, Alex, Haley, Connor and Alexis; and great-grandson Jareth. He is also survived by sisters, Ann, Pat and husband Jan; several nephews, as well as extended family.
