Richard Alan Whiteacre, 76

| September 9, 2023 1:00 AM

Created in Texas, born in California and found peace in Idaho, Rick lost his battle with cancer Sept. 6, 2023, and has joined his loved ones in heaven.

Born in Sacramento, Calif., on Oct. 12, 1946, to Walter Lesley and Nadine Claire (Bushong) Whiteacre, he grew up in Vacaville, Calif., where he developed a love for all things motorcycle and later spent many years working in the motorcycle industry. He was also a very talented woodworker and owned and operated a furniture and home decor store. Racing motorcycles and boats was a passion that led to many lifelong friendships.

Rick is survived by his wife, Janet Whiteacre, of Athol; son Kip Whiteacre (Donna) of Auburn, Calif.; daughters Ami Rickard (Lanny) of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Brandy Baker (Jim) of Newcastle, Calif.; stepson John Anderson (Tracey) of Camas, Wash.; stepdaughter Christina Peacock (Jake) of Sandy, Utah; granddaughter Kyra Whiteacre (James Delgado); grandsons Cannon Compton (Vanessa), Keith Compton, and Jace Whiteacre; step-granddaughters Gynger Peterson (Nathan) and Ashley Garcia (Nick); step-grandson Jesse Rickard (Rachel); great-grandson Jet Compton; great-granddaughter Ozzy Compton; future great-grandson due in October; former wife and mother of his children Susan Matthews Compton.

Rick had an amazing sense of humor and a love of storytelling. He will be missed by all who ever knew him. "It's better to have been a racer for a moment than a spectator for a lifetime!" Donations may be made to Schneidmiller Hospice House, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
