USA: More than ‘one disruptive man’

| September 8, 2023 1:00 AM

Please think about the USA before an autocratic hopeful-to-be-dictator came upon our political scene.

Did you feel like the USA was the beacon of freedom in the world?

Did you feel that the tenets of our democracy; free press, freedom of speech, criminal justice system, were sound?

Did you feel like the people in a different political party were respectable but with some differing political views — rather than sworn enemies?

Did you ever think an American president would not only condone, but advocate violence?

Did you ever think an American president would insult, belittle and put down free world leaders and lavishly praise communist and fascist dictators?

Did you ever think you would see disgusting, profane signs and bumper stickers trashing political, civic and law enforcement leaders?

Did you feel pride and proud to be an American when you heard patriotic songs such as our national anthem, “My Country, ‘tis of Thee” and “America The Beautiful?”

One more thing — compare the rhetoric and actions of our present disruptor with those of the fascist dictators in 1930s Europe.

All of us should review and think about the words of the previously referred to songs: the national anthem, “My Country, ‘tis of Thee” and the very beautiful “America The Beautiful.” Also read and absorb the words of our Pledge of Allegiance.

This is still the same country and we are still the same people, other than the one disruptive man and the cult he has sucked in.

Push them aside and move on.
