Frank James Manning, 82
Frank James Manning (82) of Hayden, Idaho, passed away Aug. 22, 2023, after his battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Stockton, Calif., to parents, Frank and Delpha Manning. Frank graduated from Stagg HS in 1958. He joined the Navy before his 18th birthday and was very proud to serve his country. Afterward, Frank began his career as a Union Ironworker and moved to Idaho in 1970 to work out of Local 14.
He met the love of his life, Julie, and they married in 1978. Frank and Julie celebrated their 45th anniversary Aug. 5. After they both retired, they spent several weeks every summer traveling across the country. They also traveled to Aruba many times to escape the cold and enjoy some Caribbean sunshine.
Frank enjoyed volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards with his family and watching his Saturday morning Bugs Bunny cartoons. He especially loved sitting on his back porch drinking a Budweiser, taking care of his fish pond and flowers and telling funny stories. Frank cherished his close friends at church and loved visiting with them every Sunday.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Delpha Manning, his favorite uncle, Jim Manning, and his stepson, Willie West.
Frank leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 45 years, Julie Manning. His daughters, Dannette (Rick) LeGrand and Sandra (Greg) Vanover and stepdaughters Natalie and Patty West. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Haley, Kristen, Danielle and Raymond, along with two great-grandsons, Braxton and Bishop and siblings Chuck and Eloise of California.
Frank was the Rock of our family! He was a great man who touched many lives along his path in this world. He will forever be in our hearts. Rest in Peace Dear Frank. We love you and miss you so much!
Funeral services will be held at St. Pius X Church (625 E. Haycraft Ave. in Cd'A) on Sep. 30 at 11 a.m. Cake and Coffee will be served afterward. In lieu of flowers, any donations to Hospice of North Idaho would be appreciated.
