POST FALLS — Coeur d’Alene sent a message by winning the first set.

But Post Falls had an answer by battling back to win the next three, as the Trojans finished off the Vikings 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 26-24 in Inland Empire League play Tuesday night at The Arena.

Kylie Munday totaled 20 kills and 20 assists for Post Falls (12-1, 2-0 IEL). Jenna Sarff added 14 kills and three blocks, Vanessa Kison 14 digs, two blocks and two aces, Lucy Carr 21 assists, Lexi Norisada nine digs, Kaela Gump three aces.

“Jenna had a really good match tonight,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said of her senior outside hitter. “Her hitting was dialed in. We missed too many serves, and have some work to do in serve-receive. We need all our skills working at the same time. Coeur d’Alene was scrappy.”

Paisley Goings had 12 kills and eight digs for Coeur d’Alene (8-1, 1-1). Olivia Naccarato added six kills and three blocks, Bailey Jaworski 19 assists and nine digs, Lizzy Hardy 15 assists, Gia Janke five blocks and three aces, Gracie Legg eight digs, Alexa Stavros three aces.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “Both teams played at a high level.”

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Sandpoint on Thursday.

Post Falls returns to action Monday at home with a tri-match vs. Moscow and Gonzaga Prep.

Lake City d. Lewiston

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Taylor Winey had 38 assists and 11 digs as the host Timberwolves picked up their first victory of the season, downing the Bengals 25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17 in IEL play.

Jessalyn Wilson added 13 kills, eight digs and three aces for Lake City (1-3, 1-2 IEL). Emmery Fuller and Lola Jeanselme had nine kills each, Daphne Neeley 14 digs and three aces.

“Things are finally starting to click for us in practice, so it was rewarding to see that pay off on the court tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “Lewiston has a quick and powerful offense. We have more work to do to be ready to see them again, but I’m proud of our team dynamic tonight.”

Lewiston is 0-2, 0-2.

Lake City travels to Lakeland on Thursday for an IEL match.

St. Maries d.

Timberlake

ST. MARIES — The host Lumberjacks won the final two sets to capture a wild 20-25, 25-12, 26-28, 25-23, 17-15 victory over the Tigers in nonleague play.

"Timberlake is always a well-coached team; she (Tigers coach Michelle Garwood) does a great job," St. Maries coach Rachele Fischer said. "We had too many missed serves though and they were able to capitalize on that and take two games from us and make two of the other game scores real close. It’s early on in the season but we need to focus on improving our serve percentage moving forward."

Jozee MacArthur had 28 assists and five kills for Timberlake (0-3). Linley Howard had nine digs, five kills, four blocks and two aces, Maci Sandbank nine kills and 13 digs, Diana Nelson 11 kills and three blocks.

“The girls stepped it up this game. They were more communicative and competitive,” Kootenai coach Elexus Moore-Rich said. “I want to recognize Hannah Stiles and Iva Hugo for their amazing digs. They covered our weak points and hustled like crazy to cover their teammates. We may have lost the match, but we are celebrating our small victory of winning a set.”

But we did a good job of keeping the scoring to the second half. But there’s definitely some more work to do.”
