If you experience pain on the bottom of your foot, especially while walking, you may have plantar fasciitis. In this article, I want to shine a light on how Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Light Therapy can not only alleviate foot pain but will help get you back on your feet.

So how does plantar fasciitis develop? It may be as simple as a job that requires a significant amount of time walking or standing on hard surfaces or even a new exercise program that is significantly more intense on your feet. Because the bottom part of the foot’s job is to absorb the weight we put on our feet, too much pressure may lead to an injury resulting in plantar fasciitis. It has been estimated that every pound of body weight causes three pounds of force that your feet have to absorb when you're walking, and seven pounds when running. That means a 200 pound person's feet would be subject to 600 pounds of force with every step, and 1,400 pounds of force when running. Now multiple that by how many steps you take per day. The pain associated with plantar fasciitis stems from the inflammation of the sole and can become worse by standing for a long period of time. Common symptoms include stiffness, tenderness and pain. Ultimately, you can tear a ligament that supports the arch of the foot, also known as the plantar fascia, when a significant amount of stress and repetition occurs.

A 2015 randomized controlled trial article titled, “Low-Level Laser Therapy at 635 nm for Treatment of Chronic Plantar Fasciitis: A Placebo-Controlled, Randomized Study,” affirm how low-level laser therapy (LLLT), increases the speed of tissue repair of plantar fasciitis resulting in decreased pain and inflammation reduction. The study covered low-level laser therapy for the treatment of unilateral chronic fasciitis and the data shown that low-level laser therapy is a favorable treatment of plantar fasciitis.

The clinical efficacy of LLLT for plantar fasciitis demonstrates tissue repair and heel pain relief. With every step you take, the heel strikes the ground, and tension gets placed on the fascia, the pain associated with this microscopic lesion can disrupt a simple walk.

LLLT emerges as a beacon of hope in the realm of plantar fasciitis management. This advanced technology offers a wide range of health and wellness benefits. By harnessing the power of light, we can potentially alleviate inflammation, reduce pain, and enhance the healing process in a non-invasive and drug-free manner.
