Paul Bunyan Days start today in St. Maries

ST. MARIES — A four-day celebration of logging history in St. Maries begins today with the Paul Bunyan Festival at St. Maries City Park.
It includes a carnival, demolition derby, music, food and craft vendors, logging and water events, tug-of-war contest, quilt show, demolition derby and a fireworks display.
The event is projected to attract about 25,000 people.
A highlight is the logging competition that begins at noon on Sunday, which features pole climbing, axe throwing, crosscut competition, choker-setting and more. This event is open to all amateurs.
The celebration winds up with a parade at 10 a.m. Monday.
