North Idaho Republicans endorse local candidates

| October 27, 2023 1:00 AM

COEUR d' ALENE — North Idaho Republicans (NIR) of Kootenai County urge fellow citizens to actively engage in the upcoming local nonpartisan elections. NIR is excited to extend its endorsement to good local candidates who embody North Idaho traditions and principles that will maintain the quality of life area residents currently enjoy.

Our communities are on the ballot. These elections are crucial for the future course of our cities and schools which will directly impact our daily lives. It is our unwavering conviction that candidate selection for these offices should be based on character, experience, and conservative principles, rather than hard-core partisan affiliation and allegiance.

Nonpartisan elections should revolve around the principles of good governance, prioritizing the well-being of our neighborhoods and the responsible management of essential local services, such as roads, schools, water, and emergency services, all free from out-of-state dark money influence.

North Idaho Republicans harbor deep concerns about potential threats to traditional Idaho values and publicly funded assets from those with radical agendas. Recently, several partisan extremist groups have sown fear, chaos, and social conflict among our neighbors, necessitating our active engagement in these nonpartisan elections. NIR opposes any candidates or groups who support white supremacy, promote bigotry, or cultivate hate in North Idaho.

The destructive actions taken by recently elected officials at institutions like North Idaho College, the Community Library Network, and the West Bonner School District underscore the harmful consequences of low voter turnout on Election Day.

Former Lt. Governor Jack Riggs of Coeur d’Alene underscores the vital importance of voting in local nonpartisan elections, asserting, "The recent political climate trends in our area necessitate very active participation in these local races to safeguard our towns and schools."

He emphasizes North Idaho Republicans’ commitment to preventing the erosion of North Idaho's unique way of life, stating, "We must not allow North Idaho's cherished values to be stolen away by those intent on creating false narratives about our community. It is time to pay very close attention to who wants to run our cities and schools. I encourage you to vote early, or vote on election day, but please do vote!"

North Idaho Republicans believe the following candidates truly have the public’s interest in mind and are aligned with good conservative principles:
