Micah Sharples

College of Idaho swimming

Sharples, a senior and 2020 graduate of Post Falls High School, scored 44 relay and 5 individual points last weekend at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Slug Shootout. Sharples, a 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Swim & Dive Scholar-Athlete Team recipient, swam her 400 individual medley in  5 minutes, 7.70 seconds, continuing her comeback from surviving pulmonary emboli in 2021. Sharples' 400 IM performance places her in the NAIA top 20.

Gonzaga men's soccer

Swider, a junior forward from Coeur d'Alene High, was named West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after picking up a goal and assist last week in the Bulldogs' 3-2 win over Saint Mary's. It was Gonzaga's first conference win since 2021.

Lewis-Clark State volleyball

Dean, a graduate student from Timberlake High, passed current coach Katie Palmer for career digs with 1,593 in the Warriors 12-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 win over Oregon Tech in Lewiston. "It was pretty special," Dean said. "This week I was struggling with the outcome and I was too focused on that, so I had to go back to the proces and focus on that instead. Passing her (Palmer) is really special. She was an amazing defender and is an amazing coach, so having her coach me is really special. We were in the locker rooom and it was an emotional moment when she told me that I passed her."

Lewis-Clark State golf

Currie, a senior from Lake City, capped the 2023 fall season with a 4-over 76 to give her a new 36-hole low of 150 at the Whitman Confluence Invitational on Monday at Wine Valley Golf Course in Walla Walla. It was her third straight top-five finish with a tie for third.

• ACADEMIC AWARDS

College of Idaho had 51 student-athletes represented among Cascade Conference honorees of the U.S. Bank Academic All-Conference team, the conference announced. To earn recognition, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and at least sophomore standing.

Central Washington volleyball

Kaufman, a graduate student outside hitter from Lake City, was selected to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team for the fourth time with a 3.90 GPAA, studying sports management.
