Lockdown accidentally initiated at LCHS
A lockdown at Lake City High School was accidentally initiated Wednesday morning, causing an immediate and collaborative response from the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office and the Coeur d’Alene School District.
The Coeur d'Alene School District said in a news release the lockdown occurred when a key fob used to activate a lockdown unintentionally passed in front of an access control sensor while trying to open a door.
"While this was a preventable event, we are impressed with the response of our partners in law enforcement. They acted quickly and professionally to ensure our students and staff were safe," Deputy Superintendent Mike Nelson said. "We are a learning organization and will use this experience to be better prepared when a lockdown is necessary."
