COEUR d'ALENE — The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Employee Association Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 43 is seeking participation from local businesses and nonprofits as it plans to host a haunted house at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

"Over the past several years, safe and family-friendly haunted houses are no longer available to the general public," a news release said. "The KCSOEA is partnering with the community to offer this once again in a safe, fun and affordable venue."

The haunted house will be open Oct. 27 and 28, starting at 6 each night in the Jacklin Building.

This event is a fundraiser for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 43. The suggested donation is $5 a person or $20 per family.

Businesses and groups are wanted to provide activities and treats for kids and families.

Organizers say the event will bring the community closer together, show cooperation and support and provide a safe place for the community to celebrate the start of the fall season.
