PREP ROUNDUP: Lakeland falls; Wallace knocks off Lakeside

SANDPOINT — The Lakeland Hawks fell behind 35-0 at halftime in a 49-21 loss to the Sandpoint Bulldogs in the 4A Inland Empire League opener for both at Barlow Stadium on Friday.

Sophomore Peyton Hillman threw for 310 yards and three second-half touchdowns for Lakeland (3-4).

Roan Reilly scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Hillman early in the third quarter for Lakeland, which had been shut out in its previous two games against 5A foes Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls.

Lakeland junior running back Lovie Weil, injured against West Valley on Sept. 8, returned to finish with 59 yards receiving. Reilly finished with a team-high 113 yards receiving for Lakeland.

Sandpoint quarterback Drew Lehman threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns.

Lakeland (3-4) hosts Timberlake next Friday, then plays host to Moscow in its regular-season finale on Oct. 20.

Sandpoint (4-3) visits Moscow in an 4A IEL matchup at Bear Field.

ST. MARIES — Lumberjack senior Eli Gibson scored three touchdowns, including an 78-yard kickoff return in the third quarter of a Central Idaho League loss to the Bulldogs at St. Maries High.

Gibson ran for 191 yards for St. Maries (2-5, 1-1 CIL), which plays at Orofino on Oct. 20.

Troy Long ran for 191 yards and two touchdowns for Grangeville (3-3, 2-0), which hosts Kellogg next Friday.

SILVERTON — Freshman quarterback Henry Larson connected with junior wide receiver Julian Davis on a 44-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Miners held off the Knights in a North Star League game at Sather Field.

Larson also had a 1-yard touchdown run and a TD pass to Wyatt Ritchey for Wallace (3-3, 2-3 NSL), which travels to Clark Fork next Friday.

Lakeside (3-4, 2-2) plays Mullan/St. Regis next Friday at John Drager Field in Mullan.

GRANGEVILLE — Brielle Hei had 18 digs, Dani Hendrickson 15 assists for the Wildcats in a 25-13, 17-25, 25-19, 25-16 Central Idaho League win over the Bulldogs.

Maddie Cheney had 13 kills, Emily Coe five blocks and Macy Jerome three aces for Kellogg (8-3, 5-1 CIL), which visits Orofino today at 2:30 p.m.
