Cherilyn Towne announced her candidacy for Post Falls City Council Seat 5.

She is a Christian woman, mother, grandmother, caregiver and entrepreneur, said a news release announcing her candidacy. She raised her four children here, and her family consists of four generations in Idaho.

“I am stepping out of my comfort zone to run for city council, so you, my neighbor, will be heard,” Towne said in the release.

She is running on a platform of Christian leadership, family values and affordable living, and her goal is to be honest, transparent and available to her community.

“I will be the voice of my fellow Idahoans who feel unheard through the growth and change in our community,” Towne said in the release. “I will represent you at every meeting and voice your concerns, while preserving as much of the beauty and simplicity that our city has held onto for so long.”

Towne noted that affordable housing is a very urgent and real crisis in Kootenai County’s cities and towns.

“In order for generations to continue to thrive in Post Falls we must focus on this issue,” she said. “Housing is being built at an extremely fast pace, yet unaffordable to many local residents.”

Towne said in the release that speaking as a concerned resident and neighbor she gives her word that she will be available to listen and bring citizens’ concerns to the city council, and then do her best to help resolve those issues.

“I am excited for this new journey,” Towne said in the release. “With the help and encouragement from my friend Dan English, Coeur d’Alene City Council member, as well as my family, I believe I am the voice of the people and your advocate in City Council.”
