PREP ROUNDUP: Drake sends Lakeland past Saint George's in regular season finale

SPOKANE — Hudson Drake scored on an assist from Xay Dricketts in the 55th minute for the Lakeland Hawks in a 2-1 win over the Saint George’s Dragons in a nonleague match on Wednesday.

“Neither team really gave up too many shots,” said Lakeland coach Nick Haynes, whose team combined for nine shots on goal. “It got a little physical toward the end, but the boys did a good job of keeping their head and coming away with the win. It was certainly a good game for us and they had some good players.”

Austin Parks scored in the 20th minute for Lakeland (3-6-2), which travels to Moscow on Monday for the opening game of the 4A Region 1 tournament at the Moscow School District Community Playfields.

Taylor Winey had 22 assists and two aces for Lake City (10-8, 2-6 IEL). Emmery Fuller had five kills and two blocks, Daphne Neeley 16 digs and three aces.

“The road game in Lewiston is always a tough battle,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “Stoked to notch our first away game win, and excited about what’s ahead for us with districts coming up.”

Lewiston is 4-7, 1-6.

Lake City wraps up the regular season tonight at 7 Post Falls.

ST. MARIES — Ava Stancil, one of four seniors honored on senior night, had 20 kills, 11 digs and two blocks as the Lumberjacks beat the Spartans 25-19, 22-25, 28-26, 26-24 in Central Idaho League play.

Junior Naomi Mueller added 14 kills and two blocks for St. Maries (13-6, 5-1 CIL). Senior Lily Daniel had 42 assists, junior Mia Asbury 13 digs and three aces, senior Tayla Janssen three aces.

Priest River is 3-4, 1-3.

St. Maries travels to Deary tonight at 7:30.

KELLOGG — Ragen Oertli had 13 assists, Brielle Hei 11 digs for the Wildcats in a 25-5, 26-24, 25-14 win over the Tigers at Andrews Gymnasium.

Maddie Cheney had 10 kills, Emily Coe seven aces and 1 block, Paige Yrjana one block and Mya Reynoldson one block for Kellogg (7-1), which travels to Grangeville on Friday.

Jozee MacArthur had nine assists and four kills for Timberlake (3-10). Isabelle Torr had six digs, Amarijana Oliveri three aces

Timberlake plays host to Bonners Ferry tonight at 7 in the Intermountain League opener.

Clark Fork

CLARK FORK — Tylah Lambert had six aces, six kills, 29 assists and 16 digs for the Knights in a 25-17, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23 nonleague win over the Wampus Cats.

“The girls are really starting to play more as a team and it has been showing more and more each game,” Lakeside coach Te’a Kolar said. “I am so proud that they didn’t give up when things started to get hard and pushed through the rough moments as a team.”

Martina Rivera had five aces, 11 kills 26 digs and seven assists and Kimberly Pluff five aces, 10 kills and 31 digs for Lakeside (3-6), which travels to Mullan next Tuesday.

ST. REGIS, Mont. — Aubrey Birdsell had 18 assists and three aces for the Miners in a 25-11, 25-17, 25-4 win over the Tigers.

Britany Phillips had eight kills and seven digs, Tia Hendrick six kills and one block and Bethany Phillips one block for Wallace (12-0), which hosts Mullan tonight.
