PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls falls in Gold Bracket semis at Sheridan Classic

SPOKANE — Post Falls made it to the semifinals in the Gold Bracket at the Linda Sheridan Classic on Saturday, before losing to Wenatchee 25-19, 25-23.

Earlier in the day, the Trojans wrapped up pool play by beating Pullman 25-15, 25-13 and Southridge 25-15, 25-20. In Gold Bracket play, Post Falls beat North Creek 25-23, 24-26, 15-12 and Troy 25-20, 25-20 before falling to Wenatchee in the semis.

Vanessa Kison had 21 kills, five aces and 32 digs for Post Falls (24-4). Kylie Munday had 31 kills, six aces, 54 assists, six blocks and 36 digs for the Trojans, Jenna Sarff 21 kills, Lucy Carr 47 assists, Samantha Anderson five blocks, Danielle Codd six aces, Lexi Norisada five aces.

“I thought we served really well, and we functioned well as a unit,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said.

Post Falls plays at Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

Lake City wins Bronze Bracket at Sheridan

SPOKANE — The Timberwolves defeated University 2-0 in the Bronze Bracket finals of the Sheridan Classic.

Earlier, Lake City beat Lakeside School of Seattle 2-1 and lost to Hanford 2-0 to conclude pool play.

In the Bronze Bracket, the T-Wolves beat Saint George’s 2-0, Othello 2-0 and Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., 2-1 to advance to the title match.

“Overall, an awesome day of growth and grit,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “It was exactly what we needed heading into October.”

Lake City visits Lewiston on Tuesday.

Coeur d’Alene at

Madison tourney

REXBURG — The Vikings lost twice in bracket play on Saturday to conclude their stay at the Madison tournament.

Coeur d’Alene lost to Owyhee 25-18, 25-10 and Timberline 25-17, 23-25, 15-10.

Paisley Goings had eight kills, 18 digs and four blocks in the two matches for Coeur d’Alene (17-5). Gracie Legg had 27 digs, Angela Maiani eight kills, Lizzy Hardy 19 assists and two aces, Bailey Jaworski 18 assists, Kiley Hart seven kills and two blocks, Olivia Naccarato six kills and two blocks, Kaydence Green six kills, Gianna Callari and Gia Janke two blocks each.

“It was a great two days of learning,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “We played some tough teams that challenged us physically and mentally. Playing at this level will help us going into districts.”

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Post Falls on Tuesday.

DEER PARK — Maci Sandbank had 14 digs and seven kills for the Tigers in a 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 loss to the Stags.

Jozee MacArthur had 18 digs, Linley Howard five kills, three digs and three blocks for Timberlake (3-9), which travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.
