PREP BASKETBALL: Charley lifts Lakeside past Post Falls JV
• BOYS
PLUMMER — After losing leading scorer Vander Brown to graduation following Lakeside’s state 1A Division I championship, someone had to step in and fill the void for the Knights.
So, sophomore Tyson Charley did on Wednesday.
Charley had 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Knights in a 74-61 win over the Post Falls JV at Ron Miller, the Knights’ season opener.
“Tyson got out on the break and finished really well at the basket tonight,” Lakeside coach James Twoteeth said. “He did a good job of getting to the free-throw line and was playing aggressively.”
Joshua Kee scored 14 points for Lakeside, which faces Wallace in the opening game of the Silver Valley Tournament on Friday at Andrews Gymnasium in Kellogg.
Ryland Ulrich scored 21 points for the Post Falls JV.
“It was a good first game for us,” Twoteeth said. “It’s going to take us a few games to figure out where we’re at this year.”
