James C. Warren, 87

| November 30, 2023 1:00 AM

James C. Warren, 87, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away Nov. 23, 2023, from esophagus cancer. Born on June 6, 1936, in Denver, Colo. He was a fourth-generation Colorado native. His ties to Denver are ongoing with a family project at the Denver Tech Center.

Jim loved to tell stories of his early years attending Cherry Hills Elementary, a one-room school. After graduating from South High, he joined the United States Army and worked with helicopters. He made lifelong friends during this time and had great adventures to talk about, especially while stationed in Germany.

The military was an important influence on returning to school. He earned a BS/BA from the University of Denver in 1962 and an MS Hospital Administrator from the University of Iowa in 1965. His first job was as CEO at Decatur Illinois General, a 500-bed hospital.

He married Joyce George and had two sons. They divorced, and in 1978 he married Georgia Anderson. Theirs was a great 48-year adventure!

Jim was the hospital administrator of Spalding Rehab Center in Denver from 1970-78. This career led him to own his own companies — Adco Hearing Conservation, owner and president of James Clay Co., Pilots Partner, and Mirage Self Storage. Jim was an inventor and the holder of three patents.

Jim worked and served on many national and community boards such as President of Lafayette Flying Foundation, Key Man and Governor of Quiet Birdman Denver Rotary, Castle Pines HOA, Lake Shore Home Owners, Stevens Point HOA President, The Dukes Auto Club to name a few.

His hobbies kept him busy and happy. He helped build and design four beautiful homes. He had a commercial pilot license and flew and owned open cockpits, float planes and, his favorite, a beautiful Beech 18 — which won Grand Champion at Oshkosh Air Show. He also loved fishing, playing golf and restoring antique cars, of which he had 12.

Jim is survived by his wife, Georgia; two sons, Jim Jr. (and Amy) of Denver, Colo.; and Lance (and Julia) of Gainesville, Fla.; four grandchildren; older brother Dake (and Gerri) Wickenburg of Arizona, and Bob (and Gay) of Denver, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim loved people — he always had a party planned. Since he knew he was a “short timer” he planned and happily attended his own celebration of life Oct. 22, 2023, at the Hayden Country Club.

Jim will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, attention to detail, loyalty, love of life and providing a wonderful future for his family.

Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Hospice of North Idaho at 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Hayden, ID 83835.
