POST FALLS — A local church will give 300 live, farm-raised Christmas trees to families in need from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

All of Life Church, at 5073 E. 16th Ave. in Post Falls, will supply Douglas fir trees to families with single parents, foster families and otherwise under-resourced households during the Giving Trees event. The trees range from 5 feet to 10 feet tall and will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is the second year for the giveaway. The event will also feature activities for kids, fire pits, treats and more. Guests will enjoy a tree-lot experience. Once they choose their tree, it will be loaded and tied onto the vehicle by friendly lot attendants. Each tree will receive a custom ornament. Guests will receive prayers, if they so choose, and will have opportunities for mingling and social time.

"We want to bless under-resourced families in Kootenai County with no strings attached," said Jared Lyda, who serves in preaching, prayer, vision and leadership development on All of Life Church's ministry team.

Families do not need to qualify for a free tree, nor will they be asked their status. However, single-family, foster care and underprivileged families are a priority.

One tree per household. No earlybirds.
