PF man shoots, injures two during altercation in Cd'A

COEUR d'ALENE — A Post Falls man was arrested and two people were injured after the man fired a handgun at them early Saturday morning during an altercation in Coeur d'Alene.

Coeur d'Alene Police reported Elijah James Hocking, 20, was taken into custody without incident after he fired the gun several times through the front door of an apartment at West Hanley and West Voltaire Lane, striking two individuals. Officers responded to the apartment complex for a medical call at 5:30 a.m.

Earlier in the morning, several people inside the apartment were having a party after spending time at the bars in downtown Coeur d'Alene. At one point, Hocking displayed the gun and was pushed out of the apartment. He then fired the gun several times through the door, injuring the two people, then fled the scene. The individuals were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Detectives were also called to the scene and obtained a warrant for Hocking, who was booked on two counts of aggravated battery and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm at a dwelling. He was found at a residence in the 4300 block of North Royal St. SWAT personnel took Hocking into custody.
