COEUR d'ALENE —  A fundraiser to benefit a Coeur d'Alene woman battling cancer is set for next week.

Barb Smalley, who worked at The Coeur d'Alene Press and at St. Vincent de Paul before retiring last year, is undergoing cancer treatment in Seattle. A spaghetti dinner to help with medical and living expenses is scheduled 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, 209 Sherman Ave. It's $10 and includes spaghetti, bread, salad and dessert. Take-out is available.

"Barbara Smalley is a wonderful, beautiful lady whom I worked with at St. Vinny's," wrote Tammy Harvey. "She is fighting a battle no one should have to. Please go show some support and help out a lady who has done so much for the community without ever asking or anything in return."

Tickets, $5 each or five for $20, will be offered on a seven-night stay in Sedona, Ariz. The one-bedroom bungalow can accommodate up to four people.

Smalley, in a Facebook post, wrote: "Appreciate the little things, like walking and eating and hugging those you love. I can feel your virutal hugs and am blessed. My battle continues."
