Raymond 'Butch' Marks, 71
Raymond "Butch" Marks passed away peacefully Nov. 12, 2023. He was born May 13, 1952, to Clyde Marks and Margaret Aylward in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He grew up in a loving family, camping, hunting and fishing and participated in scouts, tee-ball, baseball and football in high school. He coached baseball in Spokane Valley and was a referee for basketball in Coeur d'Alene for many years. He was a diehard Seahawks, Mariners and Gonzaga basketball fan.
Butch loved being outdoors and worked for the U.S. Forest Service fighting fires and planting trees. He began his electrical career working for Boise Cascade in Post Falls, Idaho, and went on to own his own business, RCM Electric, until retirement in 2016.
He met his spouse, Kathy, on Jan. 8, 1974. She was assisting his dentist, Dr. Rossi, in removing his wisdom teeth. They started dating a week later, became engaged in February and were married on March 30, 1974. Butch loved to hunt, fish and camp, in any weather. He passed that love on to his four boys ... oh, the stories they could tell! Hunting was an especially sacred time when interferences were not allowed!
Butch is survived by his spouse, Kathy of Rathdrum, Idaho; sons: Robis (Rhododendron, Ore.), Brian (Spirit Lake, Idaho), Jerid and wife Rachael (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho), Jake and wife Jessica (Athol, Idaho); and grandchildren: Ethan, Emma, Cayden, Kandyce, Jason; his sister, Raylene, and husband Mike Streeter (Priest River, Idaho); and many extended family and friends.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for Butch this past year. Our family appreciates you.
Butch, you will be missed. We remember you in the morning, and in the night when we see the stars, hear a song, or visit a place. You are always with us.
A service will be held at a date to be announced. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Butch’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
