WOODALL: Letter shows lack of awareness, knowledge
I would like to make a brief response to a letter from Sylvia Woodall, published recently in the Cd’A Press.
She quotes David Horowitz, who says Democrats are preoccupied with “delusional” issues like climate change and extremist politics. Horowitz obviously does not understand climate change, nor is he aware, apparently, of the events of Jan. 6, which was nothing less than an extremist right wing attempt to overthrow the U.S. government.
The bulk of her letter was a copy-and-paste.
She says Democrats want a fascist state, on the very same day (Nov. 9) that The Guardian and other media carried a story reporting that Trump says if elected, he will weaponize the FBI to incarcerate political opponents.
Ms. Woodall is apparently unaware that in the U.S., we don’t lock up political opponents, as well as not knowing what fascism actually is.
Prosecuting political rivals is a standard procedure of authoritarian regimes and Trump’s statements are the most candid public revelations so far of the anti-democratic power he would bring to a second term as president.
Mussolini and Hitler did the exact same thing in the mid-20th century, and we all know how that turned out — except maybe Ms. Woodall.
Following as always the Trump playbook, Ms. Woodall projects upon the Democrats exactly what the extreme right actually intends to do, which is to exact retribution for losing the election rather than formulating any meaningful policy of governance.
