| November 12, 2023 1:10 AM

EAGLE — They’ve been at their best all season.

While the name might have changed, the results didn’t.

Max Cervi-Skinner, a junior from Coeur d’Alene High, finished 10th overall out of 214 runners in 15 minutes, 25.30 seconds to lead the North Idaho XC team to the Nike Northwest Regional championship on Saturday at Eagle Island State Park.

The North Idaho XC, made up of members of the Coeur d’Alene team that won the state 5A high school title two weeks ago in Pocatello, finished with 103 points. The Southern Oregon Distance Project was second with 108.

“It’s been an incredible year,” Coeur d’Alene High coach Cathy Compton said. “To have a perfect score at regionals, rally at state and now this, it’s great. They’ve come across 200 teams this year, and nobody can beat them.”

Jacob King, a senior at Coeur d’Alene was 11th in 15:26.90. Both Max Cervi-Skinner and King were named to the all-region team for finishing in the top 20.

By winning, the North Idaho XC team qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 2 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland.

Other Coeur d’Alene finishers were sophomore Mitchell Rietze (49th in 15:54), freshman Wyatt Carr (51st in 15:55.30), junior Zack Cervi-Skinner (68th in 16:04.80), senior Lachlan May (141st in 16:39) and junior Kyle Rohlinger (183rd in 17:10.80).

Coeur d’Alene sophomore Olivia May was 34th in the girls championship race in 18:30, with Post Falls junior Kaylynn Misner 151st in 20:10.
