POST FALLS — Dodgeball fans, it's about time to ruffle some feathers.

The 15th annual Wild Turkey Dodgeball Tournament will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at Mullan Trail or Seltice elementary school in Post Falls.

So far only a few teams have signed up. Officials at the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department, which hosts the event, are hoping more teams register to play.

“People like it because it’s just a fun activity that people can do on a Friday night," recreation supervisor Jill McDowell said Wednesday. "They can get energy out, they can be with their friends, doing something that’s wholesome."

Teams will play in a six-on-six format with no maximum number of players on the roster. All teams must start each game with a minimum of two female players. Costumes are encouraged — prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed team.

Last year's tournament featured a colorful cast of characters, many of whom decked out in neon spandex and other creative 1980s attire.

"It brings me back to my elementary school days, playing in the school, playing in gym class," Maximillian Noll of Coeur d'Alene said at the 2022 tourney. "Just having fun and bringing friends together. It's just fun times to smash each other in the face."

Post Falls Parks and Rec will provide two officials for each game. A modified version of rules set by the National Amateur Dodgeball Association will be followed.

Registration closes Friday or until full. The cost is $150 plus tax per team. Players must be at least 16.

From the movie "Dodgeball," some sage advice: "Remember the five D's of dodgeball: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge."
