Marvin Petersen, 89
Marvin D Petersen, Post Falls, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at home.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Lee Werner (Petersen), son-in-law Bill Werner of Post Falls, Idaho, and son Douglas Duane Petersen, Las Vegas, Nev., two grandsons, Drew Duane Werner, and Tyler Duane Petersen, and one granddaughter, Dana Lee Thompson (Werner) and Henry Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin William and Christine Marie Eline Hansen Petersen, wife, Elaine Yvonne Petersen (Sprenger), brothers, Albert Marius, Harry Victor and Pete Clifford, sisters Ellen Marie, Agnes Everue, Emily Magda, Evelyn Bernice, Sybil Edna and Lillian Margarit.
Marvin was born March 8, 1934, on the family farm west of Rice Lake Township, Ward County, N.D., to Martin William and Christine Marie Eline (Hansen) Petersen. He was raised there and educated in Minot, N.D. He married Elaine Y. Sprenger on May 27, 1957.
Marvin was an expert fiddle and guitar player, playing entirely by ear. He performed in several bands in the Minot, N.D., area. He was also a U.S. Army veteran honorably discharged March 28, 1963. He was classified as an Expert Carbine Rifle, and Sharpshooter, and was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
After leaving the service, he moved back to Rice Lake, N.D., and lived there until 1972, when he moved with his family to Loveland, Colo. In 1988, he moved to Arizona, where he lived until 2020, when he moved to Post Falls, Idaho, to be with his daughter.
The interment will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens, Fort Mohave, Ariz.
