NOTES: Senior Gabby Garasky, who helped Lake City to its second straight girls title last year with wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke, swam early in the season, but is out for the season due to knee and shoulder injuries according to fifth-year Timberwolves coach Shelly Sobek. “She’s had some pretty significant injuries and illness this year,” Sobek said. “She’ll be our manager this year.” … Senior Steven Griffith looks to defend in the 500 freestyle … The Timberwolves boys, with only five competing at state last year, finished runner-up … Lake City freshman Malynn “Tillie” Sobek — the coach's daughter — is the top seed in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 59.41 seconds, as well as the 500 freestyle (5:22.09) … Lake City freshman Eli Shaw is the top seed in the 100 butterfly (53.38) … Lake City senior Riley Taylor is the top seed in the 100 backstroke (1:00.24) … Lake City won its sixth straight girls regional title last Saturday at the University of Idaho Pool in Moscow … “To three-peat will take the entire team to not just take first, but to score in the top six as much as possible,” Shelly Sobek said. “Our biggest asset is the strength of our relays and it will likely be the deciding factor of the meet for the men and women. I’m excited for our men’s team as this relay strength, paired with some well-seeded individuals gives them a shot to stand next to the women as state champions.” … Boise has won each state boys title since 2018, the first year the Idaho High School Activities Association sponsored the meet.

NOTES: Lakeland junior Makena Mamola holds the top seed in the 200 freestyle (1:58.66) and 500 freestyle (5:15.51) … freshman Michael Mamola also is the top seed in the 200 freestyle (1:49.51) and 500 freestyle (4:50.96) … Lakeland’s boys won the regional title last week in Moscow … “We’re expecting to compete with the best in the state this week,” said Lakeland coach Rob Urbaniak, in his seventh year. “Our goal is a top-three finish at state. And we’ve got the guys and depth to do that.” … Lakeland boys' best finish at state was eighth in 2022. Sandpoint’s girls were the last team from the north to win a state title in 4A, winning the 2019 title.
