editorial: Organizations say you can trust these candidates
This election cycle, The Press is not endorsing candidates. Through a robust Voters Guide, digital town halls published on CDAPress.com (click on Meet the Candidates) and other coverage, our attention has been focused on providing as much information as possible so voters can make informed decisions about those they’ll support Nov. 7.
But we’ve also been paying attention to the endorsements from local organizations we respect and admire. As an aid you can take into the voting booth with you, below is a compilation of those groups’ recommendations for many of the contested races throughout Kootenai County.
The organizations include:
• Nonpartisan Doctors of Coeur d’Alene
• Bipartisan Citizens to Elect Qualified Experienced Candidates
• North Idaho Republicans
• Citizens for Cd’A Public Schools
• Democrats and Republicans Together
Here is a cross-section of endorsements that all or a majority of these groups agreed upon.
Coeur d'Alene City Council — Christie Wood, Dan English, Dan Gookin
Post Falls City Council — James Steffensen, Joe Malloy, Joe Bodman
City of Hayden Mayor — Alan Davis
Hayden City Council — Roger D. Saterfiel
Coeur d'Alene School Trustee — Jimmy McAndrew, Heather Tenbrink
Lakeland School Trustee — Randi Bain, Cherish Hansen, Sheila Holfeltz
Rathdrum Mayor — John Lamb (DART was the only organization from this esteemed group to endorse a candidate for Rathdrum Mayor)
