ELECTION: Vote for Wood and Gookin
The 2023 Coeur d’Alene city council election could be a watershed moment in the city’s history. Do we want to continue to live in a city led by principled individuals conducting themselves with integrity or do we want to live in the same chaos that the local Republican cult (KCRCC) has inflicted on North Idaho College and the Community Library Network? Both have been harmed in their abilities to serve the community as the cult’s influence has increased. Their expenses (paid mostly by our tax dollars) have skyrocketed with nothing good to show for it. A duplicate president when the first one was perfectly fine, ideologue attorneys with sky-high rates and dubious qualifications, lost lawsuits and higher insurance premiums for less coverage are not improvements nor are they “fiscally conservative.”
This trend of incompetent (if not outright nefarious) leadership has been enabled by voter inertia—specifically, lack of critical thinking and direct participation in the electoral process. Dubious “rating and vetting” practices have “recommended” a rogues’ gallery of candidates woefully unqualified to serve the community at large. That trend is reversible but you must make the effort. You can start by voting for Christie Wood and Dan Gookin for Coeur d’Alene City Council. Both are longtime servants of our community, having conducted themselves with integrity. Certainly there’s no shortage of unflattering characterizations of their past accomplishments. Those characterizations are baldfaced lies. The CDA Press editorial on Oct. 22, 2023, illustrated just the tip of the iceberg of the rampant lying that has been occurring with impunity. Take a stand for our community by rejecting the liars and their lies. Vote for Wood and Gookin.
