Neil and Nancy Strom
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Neil and Nancy Strom, ages 76 and 73, who died May 3, 2023, in a car accident in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Neil and Nancy were longtime residents of Hayden. They moved to North Idaho from the Midwest in 1984. Neil and Nancy were married for 53 years and left behind four children — Naaman, Norman, Naomi and Nathaniel — as well as three daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
They also leave behind a long history of service to their community. Neil volunteered with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Gideons International and served on the board of Anchored International, a Christian ministry.
Nancy volunteered with the Union Gospel Mission's Center for Women & Children, DAV auxiliary, Gideons, sang on the worship team at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, and was the secretary of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Neil was a graduate of Northern Michigan University and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an accountant and the CFO of a steel building contractor. Neil read the newspaper every day, liked to hunt and was a fan of Gonzaga basketball. Both he and Nancy enjoyed sailing, going on road trips with the Rambling Rovers, and taking scenic drives with their Corvette club.
Nancy had a degree in music from the University of Michigan and later got her teaching certificate from the University of Idaho, where she also studied for a master's degree in counseling. Before having kids, Nancy was an opera singer and the host of a radio show. She later became an elementary school music teacher and special education teacher. She taught thousands of students in the Post Falls school district from 1997 to 2014. Nancy always brought music, a good book and God's unconditional love with her wherever she went.
There will be a joint memorial service at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church on Saturday, June 3 at 10 a.m. Anyone who knew them is welcome to attend. They were dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Please view and sign Neil and Nancy's online guestbook at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
