BANDUCCI: Should ‘practice what he preaches’

| May 28, 2023 1:00 AM

Violence in the workplace is an unacceptable thing in a civilized society. That point was made abundantly clear when NIC Trustee Todd Banducci was assaulted in his office earlier this month. The quick condemnation of the attacker by our community shows we will not tolerate such activities. Trustee Banducci expressed the ongoing impact on his coworkers and family at the NIC BOT meetings on May 17 and 24.

That Banducci was so adamant in his public statements is not surprising. He’s quite an expert on workspace violence.

Banducci is not allowed to be involved in NIC Foundation operations or fundraising based on a non-financial agreement between him and the foundation resulting from his actions at a Foundation function in December 2019.

He was formally censured by the NIC Trustees in April 2020 for his conduct.

Watching multiple board of trustee meetings that are currently online makes it easy to see his bullying activity in multiple public settings, dating back to when he was first elected over a decade ago.

Some might view those actions as fighting for those he represents. His actions cross the line too many times to count.

I wonder how the people who have had those unfortunate encounters with Trustee Banducci feel? I must believe listening to his description of his attack triggered flashbacks related to his own behavior.

Surely someone with his experience understands the meaning of violence in the workplace. Now if we could only get him to practice what he preaches.
