The Dr. Riggs Leadership Scholarship was created by the Salvation Army Kroc Center executive staff and advisory board to honor Riggs, M.D., for a lifetime of leadership excellence. This year’s presenting sponsor was Idaho Central Credit Union, which also contributed to the scholarship fund along with Grace Surrounds Us.
The Major Ben Markham Continuing Education Scholarship was created by Dr. John Huckabay in 2019 to honor Markham’s vision of providing significant financial support to deserving Kroc Center staff members pursuing college degrees or certificates. The scholarship celebrates higher education.
The Melendez Memorial Scholarship was created by the Melendez family to honor the memory of Brendan Melendez, a dedicated Kroc Center lifeguard from 2013-2015, who died just before his 21st birthday. The scholarship is designed to support a Kroc Center lifeguard who displays financial need and exemplifies the true spirit of lifeguarding and care for Kroc members.
Markham and Riggs attended the event, along with Kroc staff and board members, who all congratulated the winners and their families.
