LEWISTON — Post Falls track and field coach Wade Quesnell didn’t want to single out just one of his athletes.

“From top to bottom, it was a really great team effort from both the boys and girls,” he said.

Post Falls swept team titles for the third straight year at the 5A Region 1 track and field meet, which concluded on Friday at Sweeney Track.

“There was a pretty good drive with all the kids from the first practice of the season to go and get it done,” Quesnell said. “The goal was not to win just one, but both all year long. Having that goal really kept things going all year. The kids were excited, and they should be.”

Post Falls won the boys title with 110 points, 35 points ahead of Coeur d'Alene, and also claimed the girls title with 97, edging Coeur d'Alene by six points.

“We knew the girls were going to be close,” Quesnell said. “We got points where we needed to. I couldn’t be more proud of our kids and coaching staff. We had a lot of kids contribute.”

In the 4x400 relay, both Post Falls boys and girls teams set school records, finishing in 3 minutes, 25.04 seconds (boys) and 4:05.86 (girls).

“And I think we’ll be even better at state,” Quesnell said.

Lake City senior Trevor Cogley won the 200 and 400, and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 relay.

Coeur d’Alene senior Kytriana Burrell had wins in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay.

The top three individuals and winning relay, with a chance for a wild card in the relays, advance to state next Friday and Saturday at Mountain View High in Meridian.
