Kay Hull, 82

Kay Marie Hull was born Jan. 2, 1941, to Cecil and Kathryn (Huls) Schlegel in Huntington Park, Calif. She grew up in Pico Rivera, Calif., and graduated from El Rancho High School in 1958. When she was 18, she met the love of her life, Larry Hull, at church and the couple was united in marriage Aug. 11, 1961, at First Brethren Church in Whittier, Calif. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Linda and Dianne.

The couple made their home in Whittier, then La Habra before settling in and raising their family in Placerville, Calif. In 2013, Kay and Larry embarked on a new adventure and dream and moved north to Athol, Idaho, where they homesteaded.

Kay was a member of Maple Street Community Church in Hayden, Idaho, and loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Kay loved riding her Arabian gelding, Kaiyam, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the foothills of El Dorado County. Kay enjoyed camping, gardening, homemaking, helping to homeschool the grandchildren and especially time spent with her family.

In January 2023, Kay was diagnosed with lung cancer and she was called home to the Lord on March 21, 2023, in Coeur d’Alene at the age of 82.

Kay is lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry; daughter Linda (Alan) Littlejohn and their children, Cody Littlejohn and Rachael Littlejohn; and daughter Dianne (Doug) Matteson and her children, Chad Downey and Crystal Rios (Clayton; daughter, Everly) and brother John (and Terry) Schlegel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Kathryn; sister Ginger Dodd; and a cousin, Harold Maddox.

Blessed and eternal be the memory of Kay Marie Hull.

Memorial service will be Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at Maple Street Community Church at 9485 N. Maple Street, Hayden. Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home. www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
